Increasing Accidents: Issue of Great Concern for All Indians

How to reduce accidents which is increasing day by day? It is a major question for all of us in current days. Accidents occurring on road are an issue of great concern for all citizens of India. Not a day passes when we do not read report in news paper or see on the news channels about at least 2 or 3 serious road accidents. Approximately every person has been affected by such accidents at one time or the other, because a relative or friend of someone is connected to such accidents. The number of deaths in India per year is 10 to 15 thousand and more than that in advance countries.

The big reason of these road accidents is increasing the number of motor vehicle day by day. Youth generation of our country is mostly affected by road accidents, reason is motor bikes. It is a bitter truth that is also adds to accidents on roads. Our inability to provide enough funds to widen the roads or to construct new roads in proportion to rise in vehicle population also results in perpetuating this state of affairs.

Road accidents, which increase day by day, is a big problem of country, at present people are not safe on road when they drive their vehicle. Reason is bad situation of road, uncontrolled traffic on road, ignorance of the traffic rules by people etc. These accidents do not affect only a person’s life but also the economy of our nation due to investment for emergency services, provide Ambulance Services, Ambulance with ICU facilities by hospitals, to take people in hospital that injured in road accidents and many other causes. It is totally happened due to carelessness of a person, nothing else.

To control road accidents we mentioned important method may be if our Govt. applies these steps then we reduce the increasing number of road accidents:

1) Government should be imposed heavy penalty on all those people who annoyed speed limits. If this is strictly implemented, nobody will dare to go at high speed. Existing speed limits should be brought down further.

2) Heavy punishment should be compulsory for those people who cause of the unsafe road accidents. Tamper proof speed controllers should be made compulsory for all heavy vehicles by Govt. New heavy vehicles should have built in tamper proof speed controllers. 2 wheeler manufacturers should be asked to design two wheelers with a designed maximum possible speed of 50/60 kmph. This limit may be decided based on the conditions of each country.

3) Diving tests should be made compulsory before issuing the driving license. Driving license is to be made more stringent & foolproof. Lower age limit for two wheeler & Heavy Vehicle license should be raised to 21.

4) Helmet should be made compulsory by law in all countries, or inflict a lower speed limit for those road users who do not use helmet. Issue of helmet should be made compulsory with the sale of each two wheeler and Helmet should be made compulsory for back seat riders also.

If Road Users follow all that steps then they not only save their life from accidents but also help our govt. to invest money on right division like Education Sectors, Employment Sectors etc.

Some Radical Action; Needs To Be Taken By Us

In the first ever Global Status Report on Road Safety, main reasons of Road Accidents have been discovered by the WHO (World Health Organization). The statement of WHO is pointed to high speed, drunk driving and less use of helmets, seat belts and carelessness for other road users, restraints in vehicles as the main contributing factors. Every hour, forty people under the age of 25 died in road accidents around the globe. According to the WHO, this is the second most important cause of death for 5 to 29 year old people.

Road crashes are the major problem and also big cause of death and injury mainly to children. School children are the fatalities of a high proportion of these road crashes. So it is important that children receive the road safety education as part of their syllabus. Younger children are not aware of the concept of danger and must learn to realize the dangers inherent in the road environment.

It is a major question that Why do accidents happen?  Senior police officials said that 80% of road accidents are caused human error. While no nation wide study as to the causes of road accidents in India is available on the internet, there are smaller studies which confirm these findings. We all know that in India how easy it is to get a driving license. Also punishment for errant drivers is light. A bribe is all that needs to be given and the rash drivers are free to go. Indians are known for their high degree of patience, but do we have to be patient where rash driving is concerned? No. There are mentioned some radical action which is needs to be taken by us.

1) Be more strict in issuing licenses.
2) Think of ways to decrease the number of vehicles on the roads.
3) People should use the helmets for safety so be strict about usage of helmets.
4) Govt. should make divide lanes for heavy vehicles.
5) Study how these issues are tackled in highly developed countries.

These are the important steps which should be following by all people for safety of life during drive the vehicles on the roads. By following these rules & regulations we can not only safe our life but also safe the Economy of our nation which is 60% spend to increase the facilities of Hospitals like best team of doctors, Emergency Services provides to injured people, Ambulance with ventilator facilities, Ambulance with ICU facilities etc.

What Should We Do & Not to Do After A Road Accident

India is well-known for having the most number of road accidents in the whole world. After a car accident, most of us feel stunned and it takes some time to make sense of the situation. There is no matter how good your driving is, accidents on the road do happen. We have mentioned some useful guidelines that what we should do after a road accident, which can help reduce the additional stress of sorting everything out following the incident.

(A) Firstly when Accidents happen always try to stay calm and don't lose your temper. Don't confess blame at the scene of the accident or recommend any form of settlement.

(B) If you hits a dog or farm animal through your vehicle, you are required by law to report the incident to the police. If you hit a cat or wild animal, there is no compulsion to report it, but you must ensure that the animal is not injured or suffering.

(C) Take away the injured to the nearest private or Govt. Hospital through the Ambulance or also take the help of Ambulance with ventilator services in serious condition. At the Govt Hospital we should be submit our name, address and important information of the accident to the duty constable stationed at the casualty department.

(D) The owner or driver of the vehicle must report the accident to the nearest police station within 24 hours, and also to his insurance company in the occurrence of a road accident.

We also suggest two most important points that what we not do after an accident, Firstly never admit your fault. If you do, you may not get full compensation from your insurance company.

Secondly, don't flee the scene. This is not only illegal but also puts your insurance claim in threat.
