Road Safety; It is Big Issue Especially for Cyclists & Pedestrians

Road safety, It is a big issue of today. Road safety is a result of causal efforts from all the sectors of the society including both civilians & Govt. officials. In addition to the human sufferings, the estimated costs of the road injury are an obvious amount in GNP per Annam. After an accident they did not get the treatment instantly, they did not reached at the hospital on time, they did not get the immediately services of Ambulance with ventilator facilities and all these are the big cause they lost their life. So, we recommend some Safety Tips especially for Pedestrians, Cyclists.

Pedestrians report for a big percentage of deaths & serious injury on Indian roads. As a pedestrian, your chances of survival if hit by a motor vehicle are minimum due to the fact that you have no protection. It is therefore vital that you pay special attention to your own safety. Here are some basic tips to observe. Pedestrians always follow three steps they should be Stop, Look, and Listen when they are on the road. They should be using their eyes, ears, judgment and common sense for your own safety on the road. Road Users should be look to the Right, Left, and then Right again before attempt to cross the road. Listen in all directions for imminent traffic.

Mainly pedestrians are hit by vehicles because the driver does not see them until it is too late; when you are crossing a road, never think that a driver has seen you just because you have to seen them for your own safety. Avoid crossing roads near the top of a hill or a bend, because it is harder for drivers to see you in these places.

Safety Tips for Cyclists, A large number of cyclists are badly injured on our roads each day.  It is in order to remember that bicycles are vehicles, and under the law cyclists have the same rights & responsibilities as car drivers. Cyclists are require increasing their safety, following all traffic rules and maintain their bicycles correctly. They should be follow all traffic rules, when they on the road, in the same way as any other road user.

The rules of the road are important for all road users’ drivers, pedestrians, motorcyclists, horse riders and cyclists they all have to follow traffic rules for your own safety. You should have a full knowledge about these rules to get a driving licence. Knowledge about road safety doesn't stop once you pass a driving test. It takes for whole life.

We have to be required to following all these steps towards the road safety, for avoid the increasing road accidents and recover our mistake. Make a personal assurance to improve road safety by following more well-mannered and considerate road behavior and demonstrating care for the safety of others. We should make a formal commitment to promote effective road safety education in schools and pre-schools so that appropriate behavior is promoted from early age.

Increasing Accidents: Issue of Great Concern for All Indians

How to reduce accidents which is increasing day by day? It is a major question for all of us in current days. Accidents occurring on road are an issue of great concern for all citizens of India. Not a day passes when we do not read report in news paper or see on the news channels about at least 2 or 3 serious road accidents. Approximately every person has been affected by such accidents at one time or the other, because a relative or friend of someone is connected to such accidents. The number of deaths in India per year is 10 to 15 thousand and more than that in advance countries.

The big reason of these road accidents is increasing the number of motor vehicle day by day. Youth generation of our country is mostly affected by road accidents, reason is motor bikes. It is a bitter truth that is also adds to accidents on roads. Our inability to provide enough funds to widen the roads or to construct new roads in proportion to rise in vehicle population also results in perpetuating this state of affairs.

Road accidents, which increase day by day, is a big problem of country, at present people are not safe on road when they drive their vehicle. Reason is bad situation of road, uncontrolled traffic on road, ignorance of the traffic rules by people etc. These accidents do not affect only a person’s life but also the economy of our nation due to investment for emergency services, provide Ambulance Services, Ambulance with ICU facilities by hospitals, to take people in hospital that injured in road accidents and many other causes. It is totally happened due to carelessness of a person, nothing else.

To control road accidents we mentioned important method may be if our Govt. applies these steps then we reduce the increasing number of road accidents:

1) Government should be imposed heavy penalty on all those people who annoyed speed limits. If this is strictly implemented, nobody will dare to go at high speed. Existing speed limits should be brought down further.

2) Heavy punishment should be compulsory for those people who cause of the unsafe road accidents. Tamper proof speed controllers should be made compulsory for all heavy vehicles by Govt. New heavy vehicles should have built in tamper proof speed controllers. 2 wheeler manufacturers should be asked to design two wheelers with a designed maximum possible speed of 50/60 kmph. This limit may be decided based on the conditions of each country.

3) Diving tests should be made compulsory before issuing the driving license. Driving license is to be made more stringent & foolproof. Lower age limit for two wheeler & Heavy Vehicle license should be raised to 21.

4) Helmet should be made compulsory by law in all countries, or inflict a lower speed limit for those road users who do not use helmet. Issue of helmet should be made compulsory with the sale of each two wheeler and Helmet should be made compulsory for back seat riders also.

If Road Users follow all that steps then they not only save their life from accidents but also help our govt. to invest money on right division like Education Sectors, Employment Sectors etc.

Some Radical Action; Needs To Be Taken By Us

In the first ever Global Status Report on Road Safety, main reasons of Road Accidents have been discovered by the WHO (World Health Organization). The statement of WHO is pointed to high speed, drunk driving and less use of helmets, seat belts and carelessness for other road users, restraints in vehicles as the main contributing factors. Every hour, forty people under the age of 25 died in road accidents around the globe. According to the WHO, this is the second most important cause of death for 5 to 29 year old people.

Road crashes are the major problem and also big cause of death and injury mainly to children. School children are the fatalities of a high proportion of these road crashes. So it is important that children receive the road safety education as part of their syllabus. Younger children are not aware of the concept of danger and must learn to realize the dangers inherent in the road environment.

It is a major question that Why do accidents happen?  Senior police officials said that 80% of road accidents are caused human error. While no nation wide study as to the causes of road accidents in India is available on the internet, there are smaller studies which confirm these findings. We all know that in India how easy it is to get a driving license. Also punishment for errant drivers is light. A bribe is all that needs to be given and the rash drivers are free to go. Indians are known for their high degree of patience, but do we have to be patient where rash driving is concerned? No. There are mentioned some radical action which is needs to be taken by us.

1) Be more strict in issuing licenses.
2) Think of ways to decrease the number of vehicles on the roads.
3) People should use the helmets for safety so be strict about usage of helmets.
4) Govt. should make divide lanes for heavy vehicles.
5) Study how these issues are tackled in highly developed countries.

These are the important steps which should be following by all people for safety of life during drive the vehicles on the roads. By following these rules & regulations we can not only safe our life but also safe the Economy of our nation which is 60% spend to increase the facilities of Hospitals like best team of doctors, Emergency Services provides to injured people, Ambulance with ventilator facilities, Ambulance with ICU facilities etc.

There is no matter how good your driving is, accidents on the road do happen. We have mentioned some useful guidelines that what we should do after a road accident, which can help reduce the additional stress of sorting everything out following the incident.

(A) Firstly when Accidents happen always try to stay calm and don't lose your temper. Don't confess blame at the scene of the accident or recommend any form of settlement.

Reduce Road traffic, If Really Want to Reduce Road Accidents

Road traffic is a major reason of road accident more than ten percent people die due to road accidents every year. Therefore there is the need to reduce road accidents in order to save lives and for that we have to reduce traffic on the road.

If we really want to reduce road disasters, then first we have to reduce traffic injuries & fatalities. People have to follow all traffic rules and regulation for safe driving and to keep themselves safe from road accidents. We mention some useful suggestion to reduce road traffic to reduce the major problem of road traffic:

First we have to improve signage, raise speed limits on safe roads and get drunk drivers off the road.

Implement better roadway lighting, Create more turn-only lanes.

Improve driving conditions, eliminate stops, build more divided highways, redesign bad intersections and also redesign bad roads.

These are the important points to make situation better of roads and also to decrease the number of road accidents. Increasing road accidents are affected not only the life of citizens. It also affects our Indian Economic for maintaining the number of emergency services for injured people or for those people who affected from road accidents.

Indian Government is spending a large amount of money to construct hospitals, to increase the number of emergency services (24 Hours Ambulance Services), to offer good ambulance services (Ambulance with ventilator) to take injured people in hospitals instantly.

Here we are providing highlights of report which is related to road accidents:

Major Reason of Road Accidents: Drunk Driving

India has big record of road accidents and road accidents death. Not only in India also all over the world, road accidents happening in big range. According to the latest report of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) total annual death due to road accidents has crossed 1.18 lakh. It has been released by the report and reasons are speeding, drunk driving and less use of helmets, seat belts and lack of emergency services at the time like Medical Treatment, Ambulance with ventilator services etc.

In most of the cities accidents are not necessarily out of drunken driving, but 99 per cent of the accidents, the deadly accidents that happen outside the cities are due to drunken driving and there is no check on this kind of drunken driving. Unluckily, truck drivers think they are fully prepared to drive on the highway when they are drunk completely! Until and unless this country comes up with a new method of checking drunkenness on the highways, I don't think these fatalities can be lessened.

Sometimes road accidents happen from own mistakes and carelessness. People don’t use precautions when they drive vehicle on the road and these carelessness became big and danger road accidents. We suggest some tips to safe drive on the road to make their life safe

People should not use mobile phone at the same time then them driving their vehicle, belt up in the back and always wear helmets & seat belts.

Don't drink when you drive, forever clasp to speed limits, and don’t drive any vehicle if you tired. Always view & expect other road users and keep your distances etc.

Major Steps to Reduce Road Accidents

Accidents take place on roads due to wrong actions of drivers while driving such as jumping red lights, repeated dangerous overtaking, extreme use of the horn etc. Stiff penalties should be imposed for rash driving. In case of emergencies, people should use a Road Ambulance service immediately or call police.

Ignorance of traffic rules is a major reason of road accidents because traffic rules are continuously being updated. It is the reason that Motorists are often unaware of new rules. When a new rule comes up, a SMS could be sent to all registered motorists by the local traffic authority. Speed is also a major problem of accidents. Motorists often break speed limits especially if the road is free. All roads should have clearly indicating speed limits. Radars must also be used to notice speeding cars and penalize them with heavy fines.

When we driving on the road then it is extremely important that drivers as well as passengers do not panic or shout and be cool because if a driver panics, he may suddenly turn the vehicle to the right or left without noticing other vehicles coming his way. There are also so many reasons in which the number of road accidents increasing day by day but we can reduce the number of accidents by taking some steps given below:

Road Users who avoid over speeding and reckless drivers should be charged in courts of laws. Renovate roads by putting on road signs to follow for example traffic lights. Driving permits & licenses should be given to only experienced and well trained drivers.

Road users should respect road regulations in order to decrease accidents. Traffic laws should be put into service and every driver must have his or her own driving license recommended by traffic laws.

Establish overhead cameras at each toll entry point to capture snap shot of the vehicle passing underneath with number plate and time recorded on the toll ticket or smart card. Picture of driver recorded by the Highway Authority CCTV could be an added benefit in particular to deter car theft.

Useful Tips For “What should we do immediately after an accident”

It is not good for any person to be involved in a road accident especially when one has suffered personal injury. Not all accidents are serious cases of injury, but if there is such a case, attention is usually needed as soon as possible. Sometimes there may be other drivers in the area who may see the accident and make the call. This can be lifesaving to those mixed up in this situation. Dial the emergency service Number 102 (free call) and ask for either ambulance in order of urgency. People can also contact at this number for the 24 Hours Ambulance Services.

Driving is probably the most dangerous thing most of us will ever do. This mainly has to do with the method in which they handle the situation, making things more difficult than they need to be. After a crash, a person may feel a wide range of emotions shock, guilt, fear, nervousness, or anger all of which are normal. But take a few deep breaths or count to 10 to calm down. Here are some tips on what not to do when one is involved in an accident where they are injured.

What should we do immediately after an accident: First try to stay calm don't be fright. Switch off the explosion, and activate emergency hazard lights. Check to see if anyone is injured, and if they can be assisted immediately, Keep yourself and others off the road.

Our legal responsibility after an accident: You must stop if you are mixed up in a motor vehicle accident, you must give your name and address to other people involved, you must report the accident to the police if there are personal injuries or damage to property whose owner is not in attendance, you must not drive away from a motor vehicle accident in an unroadworthy vehicle.

Road Traffic Crashes: One of the Biggest Public Health & Injury Problems

Road Traffic Safety is a biggest issue for all road users. Day by day increasing road accidents are affected not only the life of people but also Indian Economic. Increasing Road Crashes is the reason of spending money on increasing the services for road crashes Emergency Services, Medical Services, Ambulance Services (Ambulance Service Delhi) etc. The term road traffic safety is a suggestion of how to safe a person on some exacting road, or on the roads belonging to some region. The main threat to road users is the likelihood of a traffic crash. Such dangers can be reduced by building roads in alignment with competent traffic engineering practices, by the application of rational traffic control methods and by designing road vehicles so that they can be more able to avoid and survive collisions.

Road traffic crashes are one of the biggest public health & injury problems. The problem is more heightened in all because the victims are overwhelmingly healthy previous to their crashes. According to the WHO (World Health Organization) more than a million people are killed on the world’s roads every year. A report issued by the WHO in the year 2004 predictable that some 1.2m people were killed and 50m people were injured in traffic collisions on the roads around the world every year and was the leading reason of death among children 10 to 19 years of age. About 50 to 100 people die in road accidents in Delhi everyday, which is equivalent to a plane crash having no survivors.

Every year in Delhi almost two thousand people lose their lives in road accidents equal to the number of people dying of heart attack & cancer. But petite attention is paid to road safety in daily lives. Experts feel it is important to deal with the subject and draft out a strategy to bring down the victims on roads. As 95% of the road accident victims comprise of slow moving vehicles & pedestrians, there is a need to guard this category of road users. “If we provide a safe passage to pedestrians, two-wheeler riders and cyclists on our roads, who include 52%, 28% and 5% of road accident victims each year respectively, the accident rates will greatly be controlled,'' said by SN Shrivastava, joint commissioner of police (traffic).

Reason of High Traffic Volumes In Delhi

In Delhi about ten thousand people are killed in road accidents every year which is thirteen percent of the total fatality all over the world. A person behind the wheel plays an important part in most of the accidents. In most of the cases crashes occurs either due to carelessness or due to lack of road safety knowledge of the road user. Therefore, road safety education is an important as any other basic skills of survival.

We measured the “Road Accidents in Delhi” and we are shocked to see that in the year 2003 total road accidents number is 8864, Fatal Accidents 1771, Persons Killed 1841. In the year 2004 total road accidents 9083, Fatal Accidents 1782, Persons Killed 1832 and in the year 2005 number of total road accidents is 7836; number of fatal accidents is 1455 and total 1536 Persons were killed.

The reason of high traffic volumes in Delhi is a rapid growth in vehicles in conjunction with the increase in population and urban mobilization. This in turn has increased the number of the road accidents. Road Crash Problem, Economic Perspective on Traffic Safety, Developing a Road Safety Plan, Institutional Responsibility of Road Safety, Emergency Medical Services (Ambulance Service Delhi) is rising topic of road safety in which we have to focus.

Delhi Traffic Police is constantly determined to achieve cent per cent safety on the Delhi roads which can be achieved only by the public cooperation. So help us to keep Delhi safe. Some advice or suggestions are given below on crossing the road especially for children. Children should be taught the safety code and should not be allowed to go on road alone until they can understand and follow it properly.

First is always walking only on the footpath. On roads without footpath, walk on the extreme right hand side of the roads, do not be annoyed when you walking on the road, Cross only at Zebra crossings, traffic signals, subways, foot over-bridges, at the signal lights, cross only on a clear green signal. If an intersection is controlled by a policeman, traffic warden or RSP cadet, cross only when he signals you to do so etc.
