Major Reason of Road Accidents: Drunk Driving


India has big record of road accidents and road accidents death. Not only in India also all over the world, road accidents happening in big range. According to the latest report of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) total annual death due to road accidents has crossed 1.18 lakh. It has been released by the report and reasons are speeding, drunk driving and less use of helmets, seat belts and lack of emergency services at the time like Medical Treatment, Ambulance with ventilator services etc.

In most of the cities accidents are not necessarily out of drunken driving, but 99 per cent of the accidents, the deadly accidents that happen outside the cities are due to drunken driving and there is no check on this kind of drunken driving. Unluckily, truck drivers think they are fully prepared to drive on the highway when they are drunk completely! Until and unless this country comes up with a new method of checking drunkenness on the highways, I don't think these fatalities can be lessened.

Sometimes road accidents happen from own mistakes and carelessness. People don’t use precautions when they drive vehicle on the road and these carelessness became big and danger road accidents. We suggest some tips to safe drive on the road to make their life safe

People should not use mobile phone at the same time then them driving their vehicle, belt up in the back and always wear helmets & seat belts.

Major Steps to Reduce Road Accidents

Accidents take place on roads due to wrong actions of drivers while driving such as jumping red lights, repeated dangerous overtaking, extreme use of the horn etc. Stiff penalties should be imposed for rash driving. In case of emergencies, people should use a Road Ambulance service immediately or call police.


Ignorance of traffic rules is a major reason of road accidents because traffic rules are continuously being updated. It is the reason that Motorists are often unaware of new rules. Road users should respect road regulations in order to decrease accidents. Traffic laws should be put into service and every driver must have his or her own driving license recommended by traffic laws.


Establish overhead cameras at each toll entry point to capture snap shot of the vehicle passing underneath with number plate and time recorded on the toll ticket or smart card. Picture of driver recorded by the Highway Authority CCTV could be an added benefit in particular to deter car theft.

Road Traffic Crashes: One of the Biggest Public Health & Injury Problems


Road Traffic Safety is a biggest issue for all road users. Day by day increasing road accidents are affected not only the life of people but also Indian Economic. Increasing Road Crashes is the reason of spending money on increasing the services for road crashes Emergency Services, Medical Services, Ambulance Services (Ambulance Service Delhi) etc. The term road traffic safety is a suggestion of how to safe a person on some exacting road, or on the roads belonging to some region. The main threat to road users is the likelihood of a traffic crash. Such dangers can be reduced by building roads in alignment with competent traffic engineering practices, by the application of rational traffic control methods and by designing road vehicles so that they can be more able to avoid and survive collisions.

As 95% of the road accident victims comprise of slow moving vehicles & pedestrians, there is a need to guard this category of road users. “If we provide a safe passage to pedestrians, two-wheeler riders and cyclists on our roads, who include 52%, 28% and 5% of road accident victims each year respectively, the accident rates will greatly be controlled,'' said by SN Shrivastava, joint commissioner of police (traffic).

Reason of High Traffic Volumes In Delhi



In Delhi about ten thousand people are killed in road accidents every year which is thirteen percent of the total fatality all over the world. A person behind the wheel plays an important part in most of the accidents. In most of the cases crashes occurs either due to carelessness or due to lack of road safety knowledge of the road user. Therefore, road safety education is an important as any other basic skills of survival.

We measured the “Road Accidents in Delhi” and we are shocked to see that in the year 2003 total road accidents number is 8864, Fatal Accidents 1771, Persons Killed 1841. In the year 2004 total road accidents 9083, Fatal Accidents 1782, Persons Killed 1832 and in the year 2005 number of total road accidents is 7836; number of fatal accidents is 1455 and total 1536 Persons were killed.


The reason of high traffic volumes in Delhi is a rapid growth in vehicles in conjunction with the increase in population and urban mobilization. This in turn has increased the number of the road accidents. Road Crash Problem, Economic Perspective on Traffic Safety, Developing a Road Safety Plan, Institutional Responsibility of Road Safety, Emergency Medical Services (Ambulance Service Delhi) is rising topic of road safety in which we have to focus.

First is always walking only on the footpath. If an intersection is controlled by a policeman, traffic warden or RSP cadet, cross only when he signals you to do so etc.
